I've seen him live 4 times and they were brilliant shows.

All I will say to your comment is - time will tell.

Here's the point coming from someone who has seen the man live. First, the man is 50 years old. Are you able to do the same things that you did when you were younger? Secondly, Whether or not we want to admit it, the man is a legend and one of the greatest performers that ever walked this earth. I am not as big a fan of his like I once were, but I would see definitely go see him again, if given the chance. When I attended his 30th anniversary celebration in 2001 at Madison Square Garden, here in NY; I had seats that were high up. I did not give a rats ass. I enjoyed myself and he put on an amazing show. Lastly, I would not believe anything you hear about him, that come from "so-called" sources. Unless you have seen him first hand, one should not believe these "sources".

I waited 13 hours through crappy bands to see him at the 9/11 tribute concert "What More Can I Give" and he came out in a space suit - did not sing or dance well at all. Since then he has not performed live. Perhaps the 02 is in for either a big surprise or a big let down. Let's wait and see I guess.

Well, that was just one instance. Again, when I saw him here at NYC for his 30th anniversary concert, he was pretty good. There was not a calm person in the place. The energy was high and he gave a good performance.

Yeah.

Which show was it? He was good one night but kinda off the other, but considering his health at the time....

but from what I saw of that show he did at the Apollo in '02, he shut it down

Black or White with Dave Navarro?! excited

this thread is more like "live acts you need to see before THEY die".

That is so true, I already missed MJ and Journey and who knows how many years MJ will have left to perform, he is getting older and the performances are few and far between. As for Journey, I missed my opportunity to see the original group and do not think I ever will with Steve Perry having throat cancer and unable to perform. That is too bad.

Hmm, of the artists mentioned I've seen:

Stevie Wonder
Elton John
Aerosmith
Lenny Kravitz
David Bowie
Michael Jackson
Tina Turner
Diana Ross
Stevie Wonder
Chaka Khan
Prince
George Clinton
Madonna
Kiss
U2
David Bowie
Van Halen
Rolling Stones
Cher

I will see Bruce Springsteen in july and Depeche Mode in december... already have my tickets! And I'll probably see Nine Inch Nails along with Faith No More (the main reason for me) at a festival in june!

As for the other acts mentioned, I'm not really interested... other than Sade probably... if she ever tours Europe again I think I will go see her!

I think I would put AC/DC on the list... you'd have to see them even though you're not a fan... that said, I saw them twice already!

Also probably Guns N' Roses (if the '88 or '92 version ever tours again) and Metallica! I saw them several times! Peter Gabriel puts on a great show too... never would have thought that... I saw him a couple of times!

I had the fortune to have seen great artists like Stevie, EWF, Smokey, Luther Vandross, Chaka Khan, Deniece Williams (2nd best performance I ever seen), The Whispers, Al Jarreau, Roberta Flack, Lady T.

Stevie was bar none the greatest concert I ever seen, that's a once in a lifetime event nobody can afford to miss. Also if you have an appreciation for overall musicianship, you have to see Maze in concert, saw them twice all the way live from start to finish.

I would like to see MJ in concert, I wouldn't mind seeing the Jacksons together in concert.

As far as artist I need to see before I die

George Benson
Patrice Rushen
Patti Labelle
Sly and the Family Stone reunion
Prince
Allman Brothers Band

How about the bands I would have loved to have seen but alas are no more..?

For me:

Led Zeppelin - Jimmy Page needs to stop being so precious about the O2 show and get it released on DVD!

The Jam

The Smiths

Guns n Roses - Appetite For Destruction line-up only.

Pantera

Anthrax - when John Bush was still on vocals

Queen

sad
