MIKI HAWARD-Does anyone know this bad sistah??

Please do lol

The cool thing about this Lady is she pull(Or try 2 pull) Billie Holiday's style in her voice, she even did an import LP called "Singing Billie" which is a tribute to Billie Holiday. She was a member from the group SIDE EFFECT and became solo and released her 1st LP in 87 "Come feel my love, she also made movie cameos in MALCOM X(As the jazz singer) and POETIC JUSTICE(As the hair dresser). I have her "Best of" LP and listening to it right now make me feel mighty bad becoz I don't hear/watch her 2day. She's very UNDERRATED and very talented, hope I can hear from her in the next days.

Holla

Love ander new management was written 4 her x-boy Howard Hewet or whoever his name is, but she released the song after she broke up with him.

Underrated indeed
i remember my stepdad showing me her album cover for the 1st time, grinning like he'd just won the lottery.
"This is the next Whitney!"
sigh
Just like Lisa Fischer - another good one passed over.
That's all right, though, they're both DIVAS in my eyes. Think i'll play some Miki NOW!

I remember her debut album in late 1987.The song "Come Share My Love" was a huge hit,but I loved the second single, the jazzy "Imagination".She continued to have more hits..."Baby Be Mine","Love Under New Management","That's What Love Is" (with Gerald LeVert) and the excellent "Ain't Nobody Like You" in 1992.

I remember in the mid-90s,she announced that she was quitting the music business. Her career hadn't taken off the way it should have and she was pissed at her record company. It's great that she is back.

Anybody remember Regina Belle, who also came out around the same time (1987)?

Yeah, Regina is a great vocalist. I loved her song "So Many Tears"that came out in 1987. She had bigger hits than that one, but that was one of my favorites.

"So Many Tears" is a favorite of mine,as well! I love the jazzy feel of it,with those great lyrics ("I sat down to write you a letter,I promised I'd write it today, when suddenly it occured to me,that there's only one thing left to say...goodbye,goodbye").She is one talented vocalist.

Oh man!!! How Bizzare! :I: have the Howard/Levert video and :I: believe she played Billie Holliday in Spike Lee's 1993 "Malcolm X" movie.

But I actually remember Miki Howard as a session singer for 'Brit-Funk' band "Light Of The World" (who was in essence, the prototype for "Incognito")

When they recorded the US version of their bizarrely titled "1st Album", Miki Howard was doing eerie backing vocals for the song "Dreams"... and this was in 1983! and was released on Mercury records.

:I: was wondering, how old was Regina (reh-Jee-na) when she released her 1st track? she was talented, but so was Millie Scott... what ever happened 2 her?
