Why would New Birth make a great Unsung ep?

They also sing It's been a long time which Something for the people
sampled several years ago for their song My love is the Shh!
They also sing my favorite from them Dream Merchant.
She said hey hey Mr. Dream Merchant

Outside of a handful of songs i'm not that familiar with a lot
of their tunes either. I'm not sure of their history either or
why they would make a great unsung feature.
Don't laugh at my funk

That's what I want to know-why they would make a great Unsung. They seem a bit obscure even for Unsung.

According to this, Minnie's episode will be first (guess Zapp will have to wait next season):

The untold story of iconic Supremes member Florence Ballard is coming to the small screen thanks to TV One !

Ballard, known for her stint with Mary Wilson and Diana Ross in the Supremes during the iconic Motown Era, was confirmed to be the subject of one of three new installments of "Unsung," TV One's applauded series launched in 2008, this week.

Among those featured in the forthcoming show, which airs June 28, are former Supremes member Mary Wilson and Ballard's sister Maxine Ballard.

Shalamar (June 21), Melba Moore (June 14) and Minnie Riperton (June 7) will also be featured on "Unsung" during the month of June, which coincides with Black Music Month.

Shalamar, Moore, and Riperton's episodes, which document their lives and careers, are narrated by actor Gary Anthony Williams.

I heard that Bill and Camille Cosby help Melba Moore out in some way, but I forgot what it was. I think they paid for Melba's daughter's college education. I hope they'll mention all that happened.

Patrice got too many credentials and as of now she's doing free jazz with a lot of collaborators.

Yeah, and she's had a steady career and nothing scandalous has happened to her.

And again, can someone explain WHY New Birth would make a good ep?
TV will most likely let you vote on acts you want to see profiled like they did after the first season.
That said, I think New Birth is waay too obscure. Gil Scott Heron, now that would be a great ep

1)VERY TALENTED SINGERS & MUSICIANS who didn't get as much "shine" as say, EW&F or PARLIAMENT-FUNKADELIC

2)EVERY song they've covered, they made it THEIRS:
a)WILDFLOWER
b)MR. DREAM MERCHANT
c)I CAN UNDERSTAND IT
d)IT'S IMPOSSIBLE
e)I DON'T WANT TO DO WRONG

3)Singers LESLIE & MELVIN WILSON, LONDEE WIGGINS and ALLAN FREY ARE UNSUNG!!!!!
cool cool cool
