I really enjoy listening to 50/60's music a lot, even though the vast majority of the songs were written even before I was born. There is a local FM station here that plays 50/60's music during Sunday afternoons. I find myself tuning in to listen and really enjoying the songs I hear, even ones I've never heard before. It's official: I'm old.

Love it. I actually grew up listening to '60s music on the radio. Sometimes my dad would flip over to an oldies channel that play everything from the Beatles to Motown (that's mainly why I became a Motown fan).

I love the music of that era (mid-fifties, throughout the entire sixties). I got to know about some of our icons and other great songs during that era. I grew more of a liking to them then even some modern R&B songs of the era I grew up in, lol.

I dig a lil' something from the 50/60's and beyond...

Don't really get into 50's stuff much, the 60's is where it started gettin funky IMO!

Classic hits type radio in my youth along with my parents recortd collection definitely moulded my taste. I love plenty of stuff of all decades from the 60's and forward....although I also have a few treasured jazz albums from the 40's and 50's B-)

Nice to see that I'm not the only one who likes 50/60's music. What's impressive to me is that a few of the posters on this thread are in their 20's, and love this era of music. When I was in my 20's, I wasn't into 50/60's music. But now that I'm 40+, I find that I'm getting into it more than ever.

Here is probably my favorite oldie song from 1966. It was by a group called The Left Banke, and the name of the song is "Walk Away Renee". Is anybody familiar with this song?



I love the violins in this song! I just learned that The Four Tops did a cover of this song. I never knew that.

As much as I love the Internet and how it's given music lovers an option to listen to what they want and/or discover a new/old genre of music. Sadly, not everyone can afford the Net, cable, nor Sirius/XM. What are those kids or music listeners left with... a lot of junk.

Love both the 50's and 60's music! Actually 2 of the strongest decades for music- various genres. Much can be said about earlier jazz, but overall a very solid 2 decades with some of the best voices ever to be recorded.
I know people will laugh, but I also give props to my 80's because it was the soundtrack to the most exciting, crucial events of my life- the teen years, first love, discovering my true self, college, love lost and true love found... those songs told the story of my life, lifted me up when I was down, and were the anthems of me and my friends when we were up! I imagine everyone feels this way about their "heyday" and the music associated with it. You just cant help but look back fondly at the songs that were a part of the most important events in your life.

I could listen to this over & over. When I went down to Florida in the early 90's, I stayed with a couple who loved 50's/60's era tunes. We also went to a car show with a TON of cars from this era (much rather see those kinds of cars than today's souped-up, tricked-out pieces of fiberglass and plastic.

Another thing I miss are old school diners. When I went out to Cali a few years ago, I had my first Johnny Rockets experience. Loved it. By the time they finally made their way East (at least near me), they added 70's music to it. Killed the experience for me.
