Suggestions for albums where you can really hear the bass Not really looking for bass instrumentalists... but bands/albums where the bass isn't hidden in the mix... any genre...

just about any talking heads album. if you focus your attention on the bass, tina weymouth sounds like she's in her own world but it works perfectly. | |

"Standing in the shadows of Motown deluxe edition".
Disc 2 is fricken awesome as you get to hear remixes of original classic motown material featuring probably the most influential player in popular music history, James Jamerson. They are the original recordings remixed (no added production) as instrumentals. Often they will break it down to just the drums and bass or even just the bass at times and you get to hear his subtleties in all their glory.
