The thing that hits me most, is the real lack of anyone straying from the formula, meaning the same formula has sold now for almost 20 years.....you have the teen sellers, taylor swift,HSM, you have the awful mundane rock, Daughtry,David Cook,nickelback, u have the Now collection, you have a few hit movie soundtracks, U have the hip hop rb cat of the moment, you have the goof ball singer, Jason Mraz, and then you have the veterans in Plant,Krauss,Zep,Garth,Acdc..... So really the formula has not shifted in the last 20 years, no one is challenging the formula at all, everyone is doing what they think will sell, everyone is so afraid to lose some money to do something new "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F | |

Like the new Britney, well at least the last 4, she knows what she does and does it well, now me saying that doesnt mean i put her in classes with the Beatles,Marvin,Prince,Stevie,Beegees, etc...u get my point though. Like i can dig on Girls aloud or PCD but still listen to Joni Mitchell and Norah Jones and Ryan Adams and know the difference of what they are doing. I think many on the forum forget where the lines are and the differences are. It's so good to see that people liked Raising Sand. I've got nothing but respect for Robert Plant for doing what very few artists of his era do and that's trying new things. His old band didn't do too badly either on that chart. | |
