I know Lucky Star and Bordelrine were bigger in the US. But in Europe Holiday outshines the other two. Also she did promote Holiday like fuck in spring 1984 in Europe. She did not perform Lucky Star on telly.

Holiday was a hit on America radio. But Borderline & Lucky Star were bigger hits in the USA because of the videos for both songs. Beside MTV, both videos were also played on BET.

did you really think she was black? her voice is not really black sounding, at best a la Anita Ward.
And were you disapointed after you've realized she ain't black?

I thinkit's deservedly that her first album was sucessful among black radio stations, this album has got so much soul.

Madonna's vocals were never black-sounding. But musically, her debut album was definitely 80's R&B.
