What's up with the HOFF?

I just got back from Germany, as some of you GD orgers may know (yes, I meant goddamned orgers but also General Discussion orgers). Anyways, I used to live in Germany back in the early 90's, and during that time, David Hasselhoff was supreme.
You couldn't get a German to admit to liking Michael Jackson, Kylie Minogue, or Madonna (though quite a few dug Prince for some reason--I think they like the typhoon do...who knows?), but the 'Hoff was selling out concert halls all over this densely populated country.

He was on magazines:

He was showing his stuff with no shame in his game:

He was totally rocking the mullet haired doggie look

long before this dude:

The 'hoff was huggin' your puppies

(and probably sexing them too shrug)

Before long, he sort of just disappeared into syndicated television, and occasional guest movie appearances.

Hell, even his rumored comeback album and collaboration with Ice-T, the rapper known for great albums like...erm...what's their names... sort of just fell through.

How does one rise to such levels given the fact that actors almost NEVER cross over into music in the USA (Just look at the mess Billy Bob Thornton is calling a music career). Is Europe more accepting of this phenomenon?

And where did he go? confuse

where?

.

He came with the right song at the right time for the stupid masses. That "Looking for Freedom" song became the anthem of the collapse of the GDR.
" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
