There's more evidence a bunch of ''American Idol'' insiders are "out to get'' Paula Abdul. The entertainer and ''Idol'' judge is furious that she was totally set up -- interviewed by actor Sacha Baron Cohen as the title character in ''Bruno,'' the upcoming Universal feature based on Cohen's gay Austrian fashionista character.

''Paula was livid when she saw she had been tricked,'' said a show staffer. ''She was clueless about Cohen's whole 'Bruno' project, even though so many of his ambush interviews and stunts at the European fashion shows have been widely reported.''

Much like his ''Borat'' hit, ''Bruno'' will be a mockumentary using outrageous footage of interviews with both well-known and ordinary people. Former presidential candidate Ron Paul already was conned into an interview, but given he wasn't expected to know about ''Bruno,'' he's been able to laugh the whole thing off -- and even has told friends he's looking forward to seeing ''how silly I look'' when the film is released July 10.

Abdul, on the other hand, is beside herself, said my source, knowing she's ''supposed to be hip to all things happening in the world of popular culture.''
