"Young, Black and Fabulous" says there have been rumors surrounding these two for a while. I didn't hear a thing about them. They are saying Kelis was tired of Nas' "cheating and abusive ways". People.com & TMZ have confirmed the divorce filing. She's 7 mos pregnant....sad.

Wow, I didn't see this one coming. They seemed like they had a solid marriage/relationship. Nas must have done something really bad for Kelis to leave him when she is 7 mos. pregnant though. Most women aren't going to leave their husband or boyfriend when they are pregnant, especially not when they are that far along in the pregnancy. That usually doesn't happen unless they are being treated badly or something is happening on their end maybe, but I have a feeling Nas is the one in the wrong here.

I dismissed blog claims that Nas and Kelis were in trouble. You know how it goes in the blog reporting world. If Celebrity Spouse A is seen in public without Celebrity Spouse B, or worse, with a member of the opposite sex, they are having problems.

But it has been confirmed.
My favorite hip-hop couple, critically-acclaimed and Grammy nominated artists Nas and Kelis are in the process of parting ways.
Thursday Kelis officially filed for a divorce from her husband of five years and nine months. "I can confirm that she has filed for divorce," a spokesperson for Kelis told VIBE. "We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time."
According to the petition for dissolution of marriage document, obtained by Vibe.com, Nas and Kelis wed on July 28, 2003.
Kelis, who is seven months pregnant, is rumored to be unhappy with Nas' "verbally abusive and cheating ways" reports RapRadar.com.
Ironically, Nas didn't express any indication that the marriage was experiencing problems last month when he spoke to MTV News, reports Access Hollywood. He said that his pregnant wife was doing "great" and discussed their approach to determine the child's name.
"I've been thinking about kinda putting something online: ‘Choose his name,'" Nas told MTV with a smile. "You get a couple stacks for that. We take care of you for that. You win something real. But we're thinking now."
The union seemed genuine. When the couple first met at an MTV Video Awards after party, Nas told Kelis that he had been admiring her from afar and had wanted to make her his wife.
Nas made a cameo in the video for Kelis' song "Milkshake" which reached top five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
