A Great Time for Music

Over the weekend, I listened to America's Top 40(?) with Kasey Kassem on xm radio. It was a show from April 26, 1985. Wow, what happened to popular music.

The first thing I noticed is that Prince's influence was all over the place, "What have You Done for Me Lately" by Janet Jackson was on the countsown alonfg with "Fishnet" by Morris Day. On a different show, "Rockit 2 U" was played by the Jets. I hadn't heard that in years and forgot how Prince sounding it is. Oh yeah, "Kiss" was #1 on the charts!

Secondly, I noted how diverse the songs were. I heard everybody from Huey Lewis and the News to INXS to the Force MD's and The Deale. All on the same countdown!

MAn, I miss those days!

coolcat

same for me. I used to like the charts... and the songs that made it to the top were usually songs that I liked.

it all changed for me in the 90s, and the charts became irrelevant.
