Puffy is a genius in the fact that he created a huge fan base of idiots. I mean, I guess idiots need a role model too.

Puffy's a visionary. The thing is, his contribution to Hip Hop wasn't what Hip Hop needed. He made sure he was known as RAP.

What was he a visionary of? He is a straight up jackass?

Business and marketing. As much as a loathe him as an artist, I have to give him props on being ahead of the curve with a lot of business decisions.

2 things killed Hip Hop:

2 - The Dirty South

Puffy was indeed have a good business mind but he sucks
mad ass as an artist and is beyond corny.
I never had an owl's scratching his ass itch to buy
a puffy record.
As far as the dirty south is concerned, Outkast and Goodie Mobb
were groundbreaking but bullshit like 95 south, daisy dukes, that
whole miami vibe and all of master p's stooges never did anything
for me and i actually give master p credit for building his own
shit. Unfortunately for goodie mobb, after the split with Cee Lo
things fell apart. Their first two albums were pure fire.

Some of my favorite artists are:
RunDMC
Whodini
KRS One
Tribe Called Quest
DeLa Soul
Eric B and Rakim
Pete Rock and CL Smooth
Brand Nubian
Common
Heavy D
Queen Latifah
Slum Village

As far as favorite albums i could list quite a few but two that
were very defining for me was Pete Rock and CL's Mecca and the Soul Brother
and Common's Like Water For Chocolate

I don't watch MTV, can't stand it. I like old hip hop, De La, Rakim & Eric B, etc. I happen to be good friends with Saul, and to me he is more of a spoken word artist, not a rapper.

Saul is much more than a spoken word artist as I'm sure you know.

I hear what you're saying with the old Hip Hop though.....It had that certain funk and innocence which is hard to find nowadays. It's still out there though. If you're a Eric B & Rakim/Old skool type of guy I'd point you in the direction of DJ Zeph & Azeem. They're absoultely superb and are the best Hip Hop act around at the moment imo.

Yeah, I know about Saul. I guess I just become fed up with the state of hip/hop. A few years ago, my best friend turned me on to an artist called, Me Phi Me. When I got it, I was presently surprised. He take on the entire genre of rap was Unfortunately, his CD went under the radar and I guess, tanked. It's a shame that artist like this don't get recognized.

Dull, dull, dull.... lol

but bullshit like 95 south, daisy dukes, that
whole miami vibe

The Miami bass type rap was the only kind of rap I liked in the 1990s. Well, that and hip house. All the other rap had become so slow and dull I thought I was listening to classical music made by thugs. lol Hell, when I was growing up, rap music was dancefloor music....much of it was even faster than funk. And for it to strip down and become as slow as Lawrence Welk is absolutely rediculous. lol

and all of master p's stooges never did anything
for me

Oh no, I call BFI to come pick up trash like that. lol

He just put his name on the records after they were 98% finished. He has NO talent whatsoever. He has not contributed anything to hip hop bad or good. Just ask d dot.
