Rumors of Whitney Houston’s return have been swirling for years. Now, Diane Warren, the songwriter behind Houston’s comeback single, has the goods. “The song is called ‘I Didn’t Know My Own Strength’,” Warren told an audience at the Experience Music Project’s annual Pop Conference in Seattle on Friday. "Whitney's back. Big time.”

Warren said she wrote the song specifically for Houston. “I tried to get inside her head,” Warren said about the track, which Houston performed at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Gala on February 7. “Strength” will be featured on the 45-year-old singer’s seventh solo album, and will be produced by famed hitmaker David Foster. The still-untitled project has been speculated as a 2009 release, but that date is not confirmed. During her on stage talk with the Los Angeles Times’ Ann Powers, Warren also spoke at length about her long and incredibly successful career, including her No. 1 singles for artists ranging from Aerosmith (“I Don’t Want To Miss a Thing”), Celine Dion (“Because You Loved Me”“) and Toni Braxton (“Unbreak My Heart”).

Sounds very Pop. But, I guess most songs from Diane Warren are.

It's a good thing that she's working with David Foster again.She's tried to do the "urban R&B thing" and I don't think it works for her.Pop music is her thing (right,Vainandy? lol).She should do the whole album with David Foster and Babyface.

I dunno. It's not really her thing, but overall, I think "My Love is Your Love" worked very well for her and is maybe her strongest, most consistent album to date. Trimming a little bit of the fat from it would probably make it the hands down winner.

I think it's a bad idea that she's recording songs that would most likely sound very 1992-1996, she can only get a hit with that if the media allows her the comeback, like Mariah in 2005 and Britney now. Otherwise it's gonna crash and burn, apart from a few nostalgic fans, nobody will care.

You really think so? These guys would give her a pop/adult contemporary sound which works perfectly for her.They both worked with her on 'The Bodyguard' soundtrack and that was one of her biggest albums.

yes Whitney for now... should go in a safe lane,right back to the Celine and Christina Aguilera bracket( her chops might not be there those women can blow a-capella if asked . We don't know if her voice has recovered from it's prior damage.Vocal cords change with age if those vocal cords aren't constantly conditioned.However, I hope there's a fresh feeling to the music, and she'll connect her past along with her personal growth in her delivery.Natalie Cole did it Whitney also with the right songs/producers can come back strong too.
Mix Babyface with Ne-Yo maybe.

I never thought I'd say something like this but American Idol would be a place for her to coach the finalist/ perform.



Not everyone can jump in another lane like Mariah did.I doubt if Mariah hadn't turned into the hip hop sing-the-hook-video queen if she'd be on the charts or capture a new audience.
