Yeah, the Date with the Rain 45 on Tamla is tough to find these days. It's a really strange release. As you know, the song is on Kendrick's 1972 release My People. But it never came out as a single until four years later, when it ended up as the B-side for the 1976 release Born again. Back then, it was really odd to put a four years old song on the backside of a brand new single.

Of course nobody cares about Born again, which is why people usually refer to the release as the Date with the Rain single. smile

Weird that it just now went up in price though... I assumed it was a dancefloor classic for years (but I wouldn't really know about back then because I wasn't clubbing)

Sometimes certain tracks become hot records in the scene for that reason alone. Most regular club DJs have always been playing the 12".

Funny thing i _Had_ the date with the rain single and sadly it became an ashtray in a house fire many years ago. I know i'll never see that 45 ever again.
