I absolutely love that guy! I have his self-titled album from '78 on CD (Japanese import). I'm probably going to hunt for an LP copy at some point, but since it's a $200+ album I haven't gotten around to it yet It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

There's one weak track, that's it. I'm listening to "I Surrender" on the Tube at the moment. Liking it! Another album I gotta mention (which I actually got around to purchasing quite recently, for around 200$) is "Indebted To You" by Chain Reaction. As I recall, the groups was New York based, but the album never got a US release, just a European pressing.
Here's the only track off the album that has been posted on the Tube, Never Lose, Never Win [Edited 4/24/09 5:41am] It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

MrSoulpower said: Now this is a track Funkenstein will love. It's by a group called Zingara, produced by Lamont Dozier. The album was released in 1981 and is pretty rare, but once in a while it pops up. I'll definitely play this track on the show tonight.

IAintTheOne said: MrSoulpower said: The record's good just not worth 150.00 to me I think it's a great record. But I would not spend $150 either. Like I said, I found it for a tenner (with five more mint copies in the same box, which I should have bought in hindsight). It's weird, sometimes a record get's really hot in the scene and the price goes up. Last year, these two 45s suddenly got a lot of play, and now you won't find them for under $100. http://www.youtube.com/wa...cjD3gbqpkU http://www.youtube.com/wa...PL&index=7 (the original of this one was released in the U.S. on abc records)

Seriously? I didn't know that happened to "Date With The Rain" (although I did see some reissues on 12" pop up )

Seriously? I didn't know that happened to "Date With The Rain" (although I did see some reissues on 12" pop up ) Yeah, the Date with the Rain 45 on Tamla is tough to find these days. It's a really strange release. As you know, the song is on Kendrick's 1972 release My People. But it never came out as a single until four years later, when it ended up as the B-side for the 1976 release Born again. Back then, it was really odd to put a four years old song on the backside of a brand new single. Of course nobody cares about Born again, which is why people usually refer to the release as the Date with the Rain single.
