Shango said: Clifford Coulter is a multi-instrumentalist and developed a few custom-made instruments branded with his own Coultron-trademark.
As far as i know he recorded maybe about 3 or a few more albums. The track below is from his album "Better Part Of Me", released around 1980 on CBS and produced by Bill Withers. Bill also contributed with some instrumentation to the recording-sessions and wrote a brief introduction on the backsleeve : [Edited 4/22/09 12:33pm] I dig this Coulter LP..

Their album "Let Me Be Your Lover" has some decent tunes on it... and horrible cover art EDIT: The cover, http://www.recordmania.ne...N47349.gif Do you have the album? Nope. I've just heard it in its entirety a couple of times. I've seen it on sale online once, but I didn't bother with it, cause it's not on the top end of my "Albums To Get" list It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Shango said: Another group from Chicago who released 2 albums around 1982 under 2 different groupnames and on 2 different labels. Bought the original Maxx Traxx album years ago for an astronomical price, lol.
A few years after that, the Maxx Traxx album was reissued and it's still available for a payable price. The Third Rail album occasionally appears for sale online for big bucks : [Edited 4/23/09 0:23am] Wow, what awesome records - especially the The Third Rail track, fantastic. Can you tell the title of that track please Shango?, thanks The Funk, the whole funk & nothin' but the funk, ya dig?!

And now let's get a little deeper .. one of the first deep Funk tracks that I heard and fell in love with was Gator Bait by the Gaturs. I first got it on a Funk compilation back in the early 90s ... of course it was a bootleg. And I was hooked immediately ... it took me years to dig up the original 45. The Gaturs were a a group from New Orleans, produced by Willie Tee. They never released an album, put put out a handfull of Funk 45s - this one's my favorite:

StarMon said: I dig this Coulter LP.. In the "Another Day"-soundclip, you can hear this weird bass-sound, especially during the solo-break. Both those bass-sound and solo-sound are examples of Clifford's "Coultron"-trademark. That album has been reissued on quality vinyl, and it appeared briefly on cd by Japanese import.

Dug it all and had little of it. I especially dug the Peace, Justice and Equality track. You know how I feel about that sweet 70s Soul sound. Keep 'em coming.

I was about to buy their album (Synchronized) off of Ebay, but decided to think it over one more day, and in that time someone else went and bought it! Now this is a track Funkenstein will love. It's by a group called Zingara, produced by Lamont Dozier. The album was released in 1981 and is pretty rare, but once in a while it pops up. I'll definitely play this track on the show tonight.
