Ashanti's debut was solid.

But 'chapter two' was awful. I liked 'roll wid u' and 'rain on me' though.

She did have more creative videos than Beyonce IMO.

Like others have said,Ashanti is nothing more than a pretty face. She has no stage presence at all. When she first came on the scene, they made a big deal about the fact that she writes her own lyrics, but come on....her lyrics aren't very deep or groundbreaking! On one of her songs, she repeats the phrase "Aww baby" over and over. She doesn't have what it takes to hold people's attention.

Okay, I have to admit that Baby is THE jam, that track was sick and the lyrics were actually cute. Love the remixes too. boxed

See people trynta hate on Murder Inc and Ja Rule but for a few years there a lot of the joints they dropped were actually pretty good as far as danceable hip hop songs to bump in the clubs. I still think Ain't It Funny was the shit.

And this one was kinda hot too.

Though she totally ripped off Scarface's "Mary Jane" for "Baby", lol. Sorry, couldn't really get behind that. lol

Ashanti is one of the few contemporary R&B singers that has actually improved. Its "too little; too late" but I will give her credit where its due. The site vets know I couldn't stand this chick's voice and was pissed that everybody seemed to be giving her all of those unwarranted props she got when she first dropped. I actually stopped watching the Soul Train Awards because they gave her a "Lady Of Soul" award. I think something happened after she sang the National Anthem. Something seemed to inspire her to get better after that performance. She went from just a little above Cassie to marginally decent. Of course, like Rob and Fab from Milli Vanilli, once the general public says "you suck" its hard to prove that you don't suck as much as they think you do. Her biggest problem was that she was underdeveloped and she had dudes around her who didn't have talent themselves nor did they know what to do with talent. Her whole label was of the hype mindset, so they just wanted her to "fake it till you make it" when they should have been encouraging her to do better and develop her voice. I think Murder Inc going under was the best thing that happened to Ashanti.

Why do people think Beyoncé can't sing? Are you people deaf? I guess pop hate makes you despise a person and by default everything they do.

Oh, by the way...Beyoncé wouldn't put Ashanti's career in a coffin...Matthew Knowles would. evillol

Yeah, this video SUCKS! The original is much better it even features Nia Long. I never understood why she'd have Nia in it looking hotter than her when Ashanti's sposed to be the star. That's diva rule number one: All other bitches must look a hot mess compared to you. deal
