Oh yes,Jocelyn Brown's "Somebody Else's Guy" was da jam back in 1984!! Remember that kickass chorus/hook?

"I can't get off my high horse,and I can't let you go
You are the one who makes me feel so real
Oh,what am I supposed to do when I'm hooked so on you
Then I realize,you're Somebody Else's Guy?"

I'm gonna try to find that song.Do you guys know a cool CD that it can be found on?

My goodness, y'all are taking me back! I have some others to add, but being that I'm in dire need of those Ginko memory pills everybody's using these days, I'm sketchy on the release dates of some of these. How about old school jams like:

Let Me Down Easy- The Isley Brothers (it's my earliest
memory of an R&B
song, at like 2 years
old or something)

Lover and Friend- Minnie Ripperton

Sukiaki- A Taste of Honey

I Call Your Name- Switch

Back Down Memory Lane- Minie Ripperton

We're Going Out Tonight- Cameo

I Need Your Lovin'- Teena Marie

Here We Go- Minnie Ripperton (can y'all tell that I loved
her music or what?)

Turn Off the Lights- Teddy Pendergrass

Young Love- Teena Marie

Is It Still Good To You- Ashford & Simpson

You & I (cover version)- O'Brian

April Love- I CAN'T REMEMBER THE ARTIST! HELLLP!!!

Jeffrey Osbourne also had some great R&B hits with a group whose name completely escapes me, before his solo success
with stuff like that WOO WOO song. There's one song callled "Stranger" or something to that effect released in the 70's that I can't remember that well, becuase I was kind of little when it came out. If anybody can remember the name of that group he was in please let me know. You all have just given me a WONDERFUL reason to blow as much money as humanly possible in vintage record stores this holiday season- I almost feel like you guys have opened Pandora's box with this one, but I still have to thank ya. I'm telling you, you guys are KILLING me with this list. I'm really going to have to edit these song titles and make a major "search list" to track down this stuff- you guys have totally jogged my musical memory back to early childhood (and grade school, and puberty, and high school!!!) I did, by the way, love Cheri's "Working Girl" too! And I almost fell out of my chair when I saw that somebody posted "She's Got Papers On Me" on the list. But Wait. How about...?

Perfect Combination- Stacy Lattisaw

I'm On Your Side- Angela Bofill

It's My House- Diana Ross...

C'mon y'all- keep adding stuff! I gotta BIG list of records to track down now, so now I want to make sure I list everything I can!!!

Okay, you definitely lost me on those two. The only "Together" I can remember was (a cover probably) by that group Tavares- you know, the boys who later did "More Than a Woman" for Saturday Night Fever...not to start on the obscure groove and all, but do any of y'all remember that song "FLOAT ON" by The Floaters? I remember it was corny as hell with evrybody in the whole damn group running down their horoscopes and personal stats as lyrics, but at the same time it was THE JAM on the Quiet Storm program every night! Ah, the memories..!

Tavares, Tierra, whoever! Cut me some slack!I already to you all that I need that Ginko stuff because my memory is bad! And, btw, you KNOW the first thing I remembered when I thought about the "Float On" song was my man "LARRY"! You are too good. But wait, since you mentioned Kid Creole in another post for this thread, you just reminded me of his former life as August Darnell with THE SAVANNAH BAND! They were the creators of none other than

"Chez Chez Le Femme"!

singing about their (then) manager Tommy Mattola, of all people!

"April Love" is a 1981 song by L.T.D.,but it does not feature Jeffrey Osborne on lead vocals.By this time,he had left the band to start a solo career."April Love" was one of two hits that L.T.D. had without him (the other hit was "Kickin Back",also from 1981).

"There But For The Grace Of God Go I" kicks ass!! Spike Lee uses it to great effect in his 1999 movie 'Summer Of Sam'.

"Stool Pigeon" by Kid Creole & The Coconuts is also a great song, but nothing can top "I'm A Wonderful thing,Baby",which Morris Day would have killed for...lol...

***Don't Hide Our Love-Evelyn King(1981)

***Rocket 2 U-The Jets(1988)

***Keep It Live-Dazz Band(1982)

***White Horse-Laid Back(1984)...The anti-cocaine song-"If you want it right...don't ride the white horse"

***Dinner For Two-Michael Cooper(1987)...{This was the jam in 1987 and 1988...Cooper is one of those brothers that sounds as if he's singing through his nose at times..."I want to wiiine yal and dine youu. in a cozy little place for two"lol

***Taste Of Your Love-EU(1989)...{Excellent slow jam!!! I used to play this song all the TIME in eighty NINE. EU lead singer Griffin "SugarBear" Elliott plays the Leroy "Sugarfoot Bonner role to a hilt. They cut straight to the point on this number..."I want to taste your girl"

***Buck Wild-EU(1989)

***Sweet And Sexy Thing-Rick James (1986)

***Facts Of Love-Jeff Lorber featuring Karyn White(1986)

***Heaven Help Me-Deon Estus featuring George Michael(1988)...{Nice laid back number from 88'}

***Don't Take My Mind On A Trip-Boy George(1989)...The Boy hooks up with Teddy Riley for some New Jack Swinging results.

***Watch Out-Patrice Rushen(1987)...I used to jam this one heavily back in spring of 1987.

***Girl I Got My Eyes On You-Today(1989)...This song used to hit so hard back in tha day.

***Serious-Donna Allen(1986)...Ok SkeltonKee here's your jam right here..."talk...talk about serious"

***Keep Your Eyes On Me-Herp Alpert(1987)...Herb hooks up with Jimmy Jam And Terry Lewis for some slamming results.

***Affair-Cherrelle(1988)...Cherrelle dropped one of the best albums of 1988 bar genre IMO!!! This song will certainly get you on the dance floor.

***Barkays-Struck By You(1989)...The Barkays were still slamming hits in the late 80's.

***Can You Dance?-Shanice Wilson(1987)

***Sweet Sweet Love-Vesta Williams(1988)...One of my favorite R&B slow jams of the 80's. After the album this song is on came out called Vesta 4 U, this fine vocalist just vanished.

***Let Go-Sharon Bryant(1989)Atlantic Starr frontwoman came out kickng much booty on this debut solo single. Her album didn't fare well though.

***State Of Attraction-Rhonda Clark(1989)...Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis hooks this vocalist up with a minor hit. This used to be the jam!!!
