Record Store Day 2009

So, Saturday April 18 was Record Store Day. Did anybody celebrate by picking up some of the limited edition vinyl and CDs released yesterday? I snagged some newly released stuff from Sonic Youth, Beck, Jack White, Booker T, My Morning Jacket, Pavement, the Flaming Lips, the Black Keys and others. I also saw an in-store set by Silversun Pickups. All in all, not a bad day for the vinyl geeks.

I went. Spent a couple hundred dollars, but I didn't allow myself to get distracted by the exclusives. Just went and got what was already going to be on my list anyway.

I've started taking a list with me, because I get to a record store (or a comic shop, or a book store, etc.) and I end up wandering around picking up a bunch of stuff that catches my attention instead of what I went in looking for. Or worse, I end up getting both lol

I hear you, but some of the stuff available today was limited, like 2,500 copies limited. Hard to pass that stuff up! lol

That was one of my favorite pick ups of the day. Side one is Flaming Lips covering Madonna (Borderline), which is pretty good, but I really like the flip side, the Black Keys covering Captain Beefheart.

Where at? I didn't hear about any special releases for Record Store Day, just a few "sales". Most places didn't do jack schitt.

I've been buying vinyl quite a bit these days. I never buy CDs anymore (just download from iTunes or Amazon.com) unless its one of my very favorite artists.

for Record Store Day I bought Portishead's 2nd LP, and Roberta Flack's "Chapter TTwo" which I listened to, and absolutely adore.
