"My next album will take it up a notch. I want to keep growing. I don't want to get stuck. I want to change." Her instincts for hits are well proven. And Rihanna says she will always fight for a song. Brown, who co-wrote Disturbia, pegged the track for another singer. "I knew the song wasn't meant for me, but it was a dope record. It was a Rihanna song. It was a smash," she says. "I wanted it. So I fought for it." Rihanna went to battle for Umbrella, too. Co-writer and producer Tricky Stewart penned the track with Britney Spears in mind, then shopped it to Mary J. Blige. "It's a magical record. Anybody would have a hit with it," Rihanna says. "It's timeless and it was the perfect step up for me. Actually, it was a big step. I fought for that song, too, and it was worth it." She watched – as she always does – the hit sail to No. 1 around the world. http://www.news.com.au/co...21,00.html She talks about going up to one of the "Umbrella" songwriters here: http://www.femalefirst.co...15870.html I am more than curious as to what direction she'll go in now. I know she's been in the studio recently working with Kanye West and others, but it would seem the overall direction and reinvention has to be in limbo until this court case is settled. [Edited 4/19/09 21:36pm] Best bet for her and her label would be a best of package later in the year, maybe toss on a new track or two, do it low key. Putting out a brand new album in the next few months would be a bad move, because everything is gonna be about the case, and chris brown etc...and it will overshadow what plans the label may have, and also if Rihanna wants to be known as anything more than the girl chris punched, then the best bet is to lay low for a bit "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Her last CD came out in '07 and although the re-release kept it alive for a long time, it does seem like she needs something new. I do agree that she needs a lower profile after this case is settled. And they need to be careful and not rush the next phase in her career. It was just reported that she'll do a "comeback" show in Dubai at the end of next month. I kinda thought that was a good way to show she is moving on, but without the stress of a tour.[Edited 4/19/09 22:29pm] "Be glad for what you had baby, what you've got..."

[Edited 4/19/09 22:29pm] I wouldnt do anything this year, i would just let the shit simmer down, because its still everywhere, and its still not even a trial, so i would take a break from the spotlight, doing a show, no matter where it is, is not good at this point, its going to be disected every step every song every outfit every comment etc...as for a new album, she needs to take a break, kind of like Britney did between 2004's "in the zone" and didnt come back till "Blackout" in 2007, and just a hits package in between, and we see how everyone has pretty much forgotten the crazy shit at this point with her "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

"Breakin' Dishes" is a song written by Terius "The-Dream" Nash and Christopher "Tricky" Stewart and recorded by R&B singer Rihanna. The song was produced by Christopher Stewart, who was also partly responsible for the singer's worldwide smash hit "Umbrella."

But, maybe she was paid a lot of money to do this Dubai concert? There was a rumor of her doing a "girls only" tour w/Ciara and others but her people said it was false. I think after the case is out of the way, she should be able to have a lower profile until whatever is next. I'm not sure whose song this is, but it cracks me up! Dude couldn't take his eyes off. She's looking at the audience while he's focused on her. lol. http://www.youtube.com/wa...re=related On an unrelated note, I wonder when Rihanna and Katy Perry became such good friends? They were on the beach in Barbados together. Katy is in great shape but that suit doesn't do a thing for her... http://theybf.com/index.p...-barbados/ And I was surprised to hear Mike Tyson weighing in on the Chris/Rihanna story. I thought he always maintained that he never hit Robin? He is admitting to hitting women now and regretting it. Also, he wants Jamie Foxx to play him in a movie. I don't know about anyone else, but I could totally see that. [Edited 4/22/09 23:23pm] "Be glad for what you had baby, what you've got..."
