Me'Shell & Chaka

This was from a 1996 interview w/Me'Shell:

"Talking about the album she recorded with Chaka Khan, she is blunt. "No one will ever hear it. Why? Because Warner Bros. has a bunch of real idiots working there right! I think it's a jewel, the best album she's done in years, and no one will ever hear it because of bureaucratic bullshit."

Now I remeber a video w/the both of them. But a whole album?????

And sadly remains unreleased. I can see why Chaka said that she felt Come 2 My House was her first album, because it did not have the umbrella of a corporation trying to change it or fuck with it.

Thank you! Man, this sounds so nice, not a weak cut among the bunch and a little house music thrown-in to boot. Move all the furniture out the way cuz I gotta get up and dance. lol

Me'Shell was far too kind and diplomatic; the suits at Warner are some dumb &^%@!&%$#!@!. All of them (the record labels) have the nerve to be scratching their heads digging in their asses wondering why their record/album sales are down. Short-sided.. greedy little fools.

If you go to the IMEEM link, I think I saw a link to a guy's page with some more info about that album. And thanks to downloadhelper, I grabbed the songs in the stream. Most of the songs ended up elsewhere, like soundtracks (Sugar Hill, Living Single), and some other compilations.

yeah 'Dare You To Love Me' is a fantastic album! One of Chaka's best.I can understand why she was pissed when Warners rejected it.Hopefully,it will get an official release someday.

While I was not pleased that Warner decided to shelve "Dare", I can understand why. Really, most of the songs did not fit into what was going on at radio in 1996. Easily, IMO, the best cut on the album is "It Ain't Easy Loving Me", which ended up as a bonus track on the Japan version of "Epiphany". And her remake of "Everywhere" was great. Other than that, I was not blown away by the other cuts. And by that time, Warner Brothers was pretty much done with her. They shipped her over to their Reprise imprint, where they screwed her by not promoting "Neve Miss The Water", which, at that time, was one of her lowest charting R&B singles ever. She also recorded a jazz CD around the same time, which Warners also shelved. So she really has two unreleased CDs sitting in Warner's vaults.
