Fuck it! lol Janet hit us with a double dose of worst albums
Discipline and 20 Y.O. can't hold a candle to her previous work!

Damita Jo was her last masterpiece!

I feel you.

20 Y.O. and Discipline were WACK. Point blank.

Discipline is the first Janet album I never bought. And 20 Y.O. uhh NO. No. I do not force myself to albums.

I repeat, I do not force myself to listen to albums.

I retired JANFAN4L in 2006. Time was UP. But I still love the old records. Time was up, though.

Thank you. I'm glad someone understood that. You got some fans [I know Prince has these type of fans, too] who think that if you don't like the new albums you're not a fan or some bullshit. It's like, seriously. What is that?

I never heard one song from Janet's new album on the radio. The radio play of her music has really plummetted.

The only time I heard a song from that album, was when I saw her interview with Larry King a year ago.

She needs to reinvent herself.

Ashanti - 'Concrete Rose'
Backstreet Boys - 'Unbreakable'
Erykah Badu - 'Worldwide Underground'
Mariah Carey - 'Charmbracelet'
Beyonce - 'B'Day' ; 'I Am Sasha Fierce'
Janet Jackson - 'Damita Jo'
Madonna - 'Hard Candy'
Monica - 'After The Storm'
Prince - 'Around The World In A Day' ; 'The Vault: Old Friends 4 Sale' ; 'Chaos
& Disorder'
TLC - '3D'

Thank God for the library and used CD outlets. After renting some of these (for free) and seeing how bad they were, I was able to save my money. The rest of them, ie Prince, Janet, and Mariah, I bought used only so that I could have their whole catalog.

What are you crazy? 'ATWIAD' and 'damita jo' ? Are you sure somone didn't accidently put 'planet earth' and 'dream street' into the album sleeves when you brought them from the second hand stores?

lol No, it's actually them in there. In fact, 'Damita Jo' is the only one I actually went to the Sam Goody record store and paid for on the day it came out because I wanted to support Janet after the Superbowl fiasco...yeah, so not worth the money, but at least I got a free drawstring backpack with it, so it was all good in the end. I don't hate it, just my least favorites from her. "Damita Jo" just sounds like a clusterfuck...it's very unorganized and choppy to me.

ATWIAD I like the most out of the three I listed, but that's only because I love "Pop Life" and like "Condition of the Heart"; but I'm one of the few Prince fans who absolutely despises "Raspberry Beret". I love the video to it, but can't stand the song at all and, trust me, I've tried. Usually, if I watch the video, I push the 'mute' button. Honestly, I'm not that big of a fan of the '1999' album either, and I've listened to it several times. It just does nothing for me.

I just can't get into them, but I don't hate them like I hate Erykah's 'Worldwide Underground'. I've listened to it many times with a wide open mind and still hate that album; it's the only album by her that I don't own and refuse to buy...seriously, I don't think I'd even take a free copy of it because I don't want it in my CD collection. No matter how many times I've listen to these albums and tried to like them, they just don't float my boat. Different strokes for different folks they say. nod

Don't count me in. I like him, although I haven't listened to him in a while. Animal Rights is amazingly good - hard, fast, soft, melodic, cool, quiet, thoughtful. It made me a fan.

That's so dumb sad

Yet other celebs have done worse in the past- like Madonna in 1992, but they still kept playing her music on the radio.

And JT hasn't had it rough either

Some of it may have to do with ur age, some of it may be ur taste. Nothing wrong with that. I LOVE the 1999 album. It is the one that made me a true Prince fan. After I got that album, I swore I would get anything he ever breathed on.

I can relate about Worldwide Underground. I think it's a good album, but it's a bit too far out there for my taste. Some people around here love it and praise it. For me, it does nothing (like u and 1999). lol

lol The 1999 album has a lot of great one-liners that I absolutely love, but for some reason, as a whole, many of the songs overwhelm me. For the longest time, I didn't like "Little Red Corvette", but that was because I always heard the edited version. I love the extended mix because I love the end part. I always had a love/hate relationship with the song '1999'. After that master remix nonsense, I started to hate it, but I graduated in 1999 and the song became sentimental, so I respect it. The first album that made me fall in love with Prince was "SOTT". I can be super pissed with him, but if he sings "Adore", all is forgiven. mushy

Yeah, something about 'Worldwide Underground' just irritates me. I just can't stand that album. I hate it like a fat kid hates gym class....but the album cover is cool. nod

Prince -- The Truth

Hands down, THE worst Prince album ever. And a Prince album without any keyboard synths OR electric guitars is just wrong! disbelief Damn you Eric Clapton for starting that MTV Unplugged gimmick that convinced a lot of artists to do one!!!
lol

Rick James -- Deeper Still

Why did the final career album of one of THE best funk artists of all times had to sound like a Sade album is beyond me. Rick James albums should be about THE Funk and/or rock only!!!

Black Eyed Peas -- Monkey Business

In retrospect, this wasn't their best effort. And will.i.am is much more the blame for it than Fergie (sorry Fergie-haters). Some of those tracks sounded like Will was trying too hard to make an album better than Elephunk and ended up with an mixed bag album (My Hump being the worst hip-pop track in it).

Janet Jackson -- All Of You

Long BEFORE anyone get into a discussion about how disappointing Damita Jo, 20 Y.O. or Discipline were, THIS album was the beginning of the end for Janet. The Reason? There were too many slow tracks on the album. Janet is suppose to be a dance artist. And yet there was only 2 real dance tracks on this album?!? Give me a break.
