[Edited 4/15/09 9:15am] What a beautiful song. My mother and aunt were big time fans of Washington's music hence my love of her music. Interesting tie in with this "Bitter Earth" and the movie in this video. For the life of me I can't recall the name nor the director of that movie. Can any help me out. Thanks

It is a great song, isn't it? I am not as familiar with Ms. Washington's work as I should be. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

My mother's favorite song by Dinah was, "Mad About the Boy". Years ago Chicago NPR station had a show on called, "Blues Before Sunrise" it came on Saturday/Sunday night. The host Steve Cushing decided to play everything Ms. Washington recored from her start with Lionel Hampton till a week before her death. It was amazing to hear this women singing career in sequence. It took Cushing two years to get through all her albums.
