Whitney Houston acknowledges drug abuse

Taken from billboard.com-

Whitney Houston admits she's abused drugs in the past, but says she's gotten beyond that experience through prayer. The Grammy-winning singer also discusses the pressures of stardom and her decade-long marriage to fellow performer Bobby Brown in an interview with Diane Sawyer on "Primetime," scheduled to air at 9 p.m. EST tomorrow (Dec. 4) on ABC.

When Sawyer asks her, "Is it alcohol? Is it marijuana? Is it cocaine? Is it pills?" Houston responds, "It has been at times."

"All?" Sawyer asks. "At times," Houston says. "Uh-hm."

The 39-year-old concedes she's "addicted to a few things." "Making love," Houston says. "I don't like to think of myself addicted. I like to think ... I had a bad habit ... which can be broken."

Houston's shockingly thin frame at last year's Michael Jackson tribute sparked reports that she was ill, which she vehemently denies. She also says she's not anorexic or bulimic. "Let's get that straight. I am not sick. OK?" she says. "I've always been a thin girl. I am not going to be fat, ever. Let's get that straight. Whitney is not going to be fat, ever."

Brown also appears in the interview, and says he's frequently used marijuana because he's been diagnosed as bipolar. The 33-year-old was arrested last month in Atlanta on drug and traffic charges. "Me and drugs. We're not friends. We're not friends at all," Brown says. "I'm a very high-strung person. ... [Marijuana] seems to help me ... from going up and down."

Houston says she's done partying now, and has found strength through daily prayer. Her new Arista album, "Just Whitney," is due Dec. 10. "I'm not the strongest every day, but I'm not the weakest, either," she says. "And I won't break."

She ain't no crackhead! She said it herself, crack is cheap and she makes far too much money to buy it!

Leave her alone, she's happy.

not judging whitney or bobby. they are grown and have chosen to be addicts in bliss & it's all good. i used to think that bobby was the devil for having whitney all strung out and lookin like a 2 dollar ho. but she is a grown woman.

of course it's sad for us to just have to sit by and watch whitney who is someone so blessed become someone so possesed by negative forces in her life. the pressures of the job, her father suing her, losing her relationship with clive davis, having a drunk for a husband, having to give up her best friend. which one of us wouldn't break?

i have always thought and still think that she is the greatest of all these divas. yeah mariah is super talented and chaka is legendary. but whitney owns this soft spot in alot of our hearts. all we can do is pray for her and her strength in the lord. for the child's sake at least.

(but someone does need to give bobby a reality check..."no one can touch me as an entertainer... no one.") REALLY?!

I thought that's what Bobby was saying about Whitney, not himself.

Anyway, you could tell when she was talking in that interview- her drug-filled days aren't over. She's really messed up right now...

I lived next door to her then manager in
1988--HE even said she was a coke head lezzie!

Money, talent and looks don't make people happy and content.

She should've just admitted this at the beginning as there would'nt have been such a media frenzy...because she attempted to lie and cover up her past before...the media will be quick to frame her admission to billboard as another cover up for a serious drug problem than she admits to...regardless of whether that's true or not...

NAH, that fool said it about himself as well! eyepop disbelief

It's such a shame to see. She's still in a huge fog, I've never seen a person w/ so much to hide. Those smiles she would crack, laughing to herself. At least she didn't try to totally deny it but we don't know the HALF.

And Bobby claiming he's never done more than smoke weed & drink??? neutral evillol

my favorite quote was "yeah, I party, um-hmm..." (in a sassy teenager voice kind of way)

Funny how ten years ago during The Bodyguard days she just seemed so dignified and grown up, and now, well...

I saw it too, despite all her dramas I still dig her music. I have noticed one thing about her is how hard and cynical she has become...I guess all the media beat downs does that to a person.

My friend slept with him in 1987 and he was a huge coke head! he was sooo coked up they couldn't even get him on stage for his cleveland show

that was so funny when he said he only did weed.
