If You Like Roy Ayers: James Mason - "Free" James Mason - Rhythm of Life (1977) Former member of Roy Ayers band. I looked in past threads to see if he's come up before, and saw only (as far as I could tell) that he was mentioned by prettymansson in a thread on lesser known funk acts. Free - Clarice Taylor on vocals. I don't know anything about her, but she's got a great voice. Eeenglish edit [Edited 4/14/09 7:06am]

I have that album
THAT along with Lonnie Liston Smith's Expansion, Tarika Blue's self-titled album and RAMP's Come Into Knowledge are to me represent the BEST of the 70's fusion scene. Of course along with Mr.Ayers & Herbie Hancock, without saying.
