Alot of his Arista work was too poppy/sappy for me, still good though but missing that soul he had with Motown. The Arista work was intended to be that way (thanks to Clive Davis). I think his goal was to make Jermaine a BIG pop star. I don't think it was to compete with Michael or anyone else out there, but he wanted him to be a true adult contemporary artist. Luckily, he did have a few AC hits (before Jermaine wanted to get back to the urban sound). He did a good job trying to get back to the urban side of things with "Don't Take It Personal" and did even better with "You Said". **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

You said was mediocre to me. I felt i dream should have been the first
single all along. This was an otherwise pretty good album. I had the cassette but i always remember digging this song and the first song on the second side of the tape. I liked rebel with a cause too with vernon reid playing guitar on it. Also dug don't you deserve someone and a few other jams. [Edited 4/14/09 22:19pm] Don't laugh at my funk

That's not the show where Stephanie Mills' body guard was turned away because of his name and skin tone? She was on Tom Joyner's show a week or so ago talking about how The Whispers didn't perform because of it. Wow,I never heard about that

Here is the story. http://frankpaulgambino.w...e-live-la/ It was Stephanie being mistreated and not the bodyguard. [Edited 4/15/09 6:27am] **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I wouldn't have bought the album if Sound Warehouse/Blockbuster Music had not have the "guarantee" where you could bring it back. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I've heard about these shenanigans..."riders" and performer's not being being paid. Maybe singers/groups need to ban together and stop performing at some of these concert venues. Can't pay property taxes and for up keep cost if your arena stands empty for a year.

Anyway, I think it works better as a lead single because it's more uptempo. I love them both for the record. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis
