When I first heard it, I thought it was Sylvester to be honest with you. For some odd reason. I knew of the Pointer Sisters by then tho and I was like 10 so I was like "who's that?" Then when they said "Pointer Sisters", I said, "wow..." When this song was first released, many people thought it was Stevie Wonder's new single

What a great song. I loved it then and I love it today. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Classic 80s!
I think I heard that when June died in '06, DJ Premier put together an amazing new extended remix of this song and introduced it as a tribute to her at a gig he did in NYC. I'd love to hear it. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I love the song but couldn't watch more than 15 seconds of that video.

I love everything the Pointer Sisters did. They're so great.

Ultranate does a good cover of the song too. It's not as good as the Pointer Sisters but it's not bad.

I remember him playing this song when I saw him in 2006 but I don't remember him saying anything about June dying or it being a remix. He seems to really love this song.

Yeah the video isn't very good The song has vivid lyrics and a great groove,it's surprising that the director couldn't come up with a more interesting concept. In other videos from this period, the girls are dancing much more enthusiastically.

Anita looks completly bored out of her mind, the clothes are awful, AND WHAT IN THE HELL IS THAT DANCE MOVE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE CHORUS??!! (when they have one hand up in the air and the hip swirl) Looks like my grandma dancing!! [Edited 4/10/09 9:09am] Cheesy videos are what made the 80s great!

Absolutely. I never heard it around the time it was a hit like other Pointer Sisters tracks. Never knew there was a video and now I see why. It almost takes away from the song....I'll erase it from my mind. I figured there would be such a great video for it. I mean, it's not a million times more different than something like "Jump". It's all about the picture/video quality, which is very low here and was excellent on something like "Jump". Plus...man, their sylist took the day off. I can barely recognize them...too much or not enough makeup. Very happy that I hear the song somewhat often on Sirius (more than I ever did in the eighties). [Edited 4/14/09 20:23pm]

But at least the mid-section instrumental effect is kinda cool. But those ladies are showin' just how much hip rhythm they DON'T have!

It's entirely possible I've got the details wrong. Certainly wouldn't be the first time. I'll try to remember where I got the idea. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
