Me too. April is always my Marvin month. Today I played Got to Give It Up on IMEEM and the volume told me to turn it up. [Edited 4/10/09 14:36pm]

Me too. You can feel the tension even from the intro before he even sings and then when he does, it's over. There was something genius about Marvin's voice in the sixties. Especially in the latter half of it. [Edited 4/10/09 14:57pm]

lol The beautiful thing about Stevie is that even on his less popular albums he still has things there that'll blow your mind.
I heard this song during his B.E.T. Walk Of Fame in 2002 as my grandfather was dying of cancer and I cried like I never cried before to one of his songs....

The live version of that is actually better than the studio version on "A Time 2 Love". I think Stevie had a cold the night he performed it though... then again, his voice has been really froggy for the last little while. Might be age. The last track I heard him on was today and he was on a Raphael Saadiq joint and he almost sounded like Marvin. [Edited 4/10/09 15:02pm]

[Edited 4/10/09 15:02pm] Sho' ya right about the live version bein better than the studio cut. At the B.E.T. show he didn't even have a title for it yet, he just went into it acapella on his keyboard but the way he did it left not one dry eye in that audience. I tell ya who I was sad that their voice didn't hold up over the years, Maurice White and Rick James. [Edited 4/10/09 15:16pm]

But Rick... yeah, that stroke took a toll on him and Maurice vocally.

I say that because when he's on his show, he tends to breathe a little heavy and you can hear him breathing even when it's quiet. I'm not saying it's because he's gained a few pounds, I'm saying it may be something else going on with him that he's keeping private. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

"few" I'm trying to be nice I've heard stories of how he has a personal cook/chef and he won't eat the healthy food he prepares. He'll send a staff member out to get some soul food for his meal. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
