Yeah when i used to go see these guys perform in the early eighties,
they would often open with propositions and they turned the song into
some rock funk playing 200 mph.

They were the very first concert I ever went to after I graduated high school in May of 1985. I saw The Barkays, Con Funk Shun, and (I think) Klymaxx in October of that year. Even though it was 1985, they were still wild as hell and looking good. That was the best concert I've ever been to in my life, even better than the two Prince concerts I went to in later years. To this day, they are my favorite group to see in concert. Snakes, fire, outrageousness....those freaks are right up my alley. lol They're probably in their mid to late 60s by now but the way they put on a show just goes to show that just because an artist becomes old, does not mean they have to become dull, slow, and tame. They are just as outrageous as ever.

James Alexander is 60 now. I read a bio of the group recently and what
they're up to. It lists james as being born in 1948. It doesn't list
larry's birth date but i don't think larry is quite 60 yet although
he looks older than james.

And what pissed me off, is by the time I graduated high school and was able to go to concerts, it was 1985 and the end had began. I remember the summer after I graduated, I was just hoping and waiting for a concert to come. I was working at McDonald's too so I had a little money to buy a ticket. lol And then, here comes the radio advertisement for the next upcoming concert (the first one since I graduated high school, had a piece of a car, and a little freedom).....I can't remember if the headliner was Lionel Richie or Jermaine Jackson (I think it was Lionel) but guess who the opening act was? Just guess! I know you know who it was. I said...."I don't wanna see that shit!!!!". lol The late 80s was up and running and other than The Barkays and a very few other groups, most of the concerts that came to town were dull solo bullshit artists..
