Bass woodshedding inspiration

I hate the term greatest....but it applies here...One of the greatest basslines from one of the greatest bassplayers....played note for note by one of the best. http://www.youtube.com/wa...qA04wuO400

Wow! Great clip! Btw, before I stopped by this thread I'd just finished listening to to his tune "The Senate" which features some amazing lead bass.
Miles Davis also performed this track live when Foley was in his band. I'm sure I'm sure I have a live version on tape tucked away.

WHY wasn't FOLEY on the "Standing in the Shadows" bass project
for James Jamerson ?!? This is THE BEST rendition on Jamerson's work
that I've heard. It's criminal that Foley wasn't on that project.
There's umpteen videos on Youtube of bassists Trying to do what FOLEY pulled off on the cuff. And in ONE PASS ?!? Something's definitely wrong. I'm just glad that Foley had the original master recordings underneath him on there.
Justice was served.

He also could have sung the hits better than Ben Harper's throat noises
