I think Marcus is a brilliant musician and songwriter. As many of you know, he was responsible for a lot of Luther's material.

Anyone who could call Miles Davis a friend and mentor and write an album "TuTu" for the man goes beyond props. He gets 'nuff respect.

Marcus Miller is a MUSICIAN (bass, woodwinds, piano)/WRITER/PRODUCER that has put in work throughout the Jazz/R&B/Pop/Rock spectrum.

Mad props to Marcus Miller from me.
I'd be prouder than 10 MFs to have his credit list.

Regarding the Prince comment, it's interesting to note that after seeing a Marcus Miller gig (that included Gregoire Maret on harmonica) here in L.A. last year, Prince now has Frederic Yonnet on harmonica in the current version of his band.

Connection? Maybe, maybe not.

Gregoire Maret with...

...Dapp Theory - Trickle Down & Only Clave

A bit of musical trivia:
Dapp Theory's excellent drummer, Sean Rickman, is the son of legendary guitarist Phil Upchurch.

good point....also...MM came out with a hyper-funky version of Hendrix' "Power of soul" after which P and crew started covering live soon after.
