Ever heard of"Being in love ain't easy" by sweet obsession. 
The barkays borrowed some synth arrangements but if you really listen they added their own flavor to it. IMO sweet obsession's song is a blatant rip off of the beautiful ones. Don't laugh at my funk

Interesting thread. Didn't a certain artist of which this forum
is dedicated to borrow from james brown, little richard, and jimi hendrix. 
Also larry dodson was prancin around on the stage with his perm wearing boots and drawz while prince was in the basement with andre cymone honing his craft. Don't laugh at my funk
