It peaked at number two on the R&B chart possibly for that reason. The remix that got played in my area was the remix that Naughty By Nature did. It did well, but died fast. I see. But yeah, I hardly hear "Scream" where I'm at.

That's because of "One More Try". It was a big r&b hit. Nearly all the singles were R&B hits I Want You Sex- #43 R&B Hard Day- #21 R&B Father Figure- #6 R&B One More Try- #1 R&B Monkey-#8 R&B Kissing A Fool- #33 R&B "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. That's how I knew who he was through the "Faith" period and then when I watch MTV I notice he had been in Wham! and fell in love with "Careless Whisper" the first time I heard it.

If I'm not mistaken, Careless Whisper was a r&b hit. I know a lot stations played it (even now) during the quiet storm. That was why when Faith (the album) dropped r&b fans were already familiar with him. Some of that could have been, too, that there was not a Rhymthic CHR format/chart at the time. Some r&b stations did program as one, but they were considered r&b. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I remember when 'Faith' reached Number One on the R&B charts,Freddie Jackson was pissed. He said something like "wait until MY new album comes out!" Apparently,he was offended/upset that George Michael (a pop artist) was topping the R&B chart.

The Keith Sweat album is better. I prefer Guy, but Make It Last Forever is probably my second-favorite New Jack Swing album. Most of the choices are pretty good. I would certainly have included Gap Band III, for starters. Rhythm Nation out of the top 20 is pretty rough. [Edited 4/7/09 5:47am] Yeap ...classic keith sweat Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! London 21 Nights...Clap your hands...you know the rest..

I'm surprised that The Time was in there at number 35. I'm glad it's made the list. Although I prefer their debut album. Why are Hall & Oates & Simply Red in there?! They are pop groups, not R&B.
My top 5 would be; Michael Jackson - Thriller Prince - Purple Rain Prince - 1999 Janet Jackson - Control Michael Jackson - Bad

It's about them making a great r&b album. Simply Red's "Holding Back The Years" was a big r&b hit. So was "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)". **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

[Edited 4/7/09 14:46pm] I guess I am surprised to see it top this list, because I have never actually thought of Thriller as a soul/r&b Album.

I guess I am surprised to see it top this list, because I have never actually thought of Thriller as a soul/r&b Album. 'Thriller' is a mostly R&B album, imo."Wanna Be Startin Something","Baby Be Mine","The Lady In My Life","P.Y.T","Billie Jean" and the title track can be considered R&B tracks. "Beat It","The Girl Is Mine" and "Human Nature" lean more on the pop side of things.I think that, because this album reached such a wide audience,it's considered a "pop" album but there is actually alot of R&B on it.
