Upcoming Wilco film - title a little too familiar?

Wilco is releasing a concert documentary film titled "Ashes Of American Flags".

To me, that is a little too close to the current Wendy & Lisa album "White Flags of Winter Chimneys".

The titles are similar, but "Ashes of American Flags" is the title of a song of theirs from the "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" album which was recorded before 9-11.

You mean "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart"? I have that - great movie.

I think this new one is a concert-tour documentary, not an album-recording documentary. But the first one had live concert footage hmmm lol

There's also an older (but more recent than IATTBYH) Jeff Tweedy live DVD.

True - in that case I would argue that W&L's title is too close to Wilco's. smile

they both have the word "flags" in the title, beyond that i don't think they
are too familiar at all.

They also refer to Ashes/Chimneys. That's a pretty big similarity on its own, but moreso when taken in context (along with the "of"):

Ashes Of American Flags
White Flags Of Winter Chimneys

i thought "white flags of winter chimneys" sounded a bit too much like "the hissing of summer lawns", but what do i know shrug

How is it pushing it? One of the best artists of this decade, unlike many of the ones that get praise here on the forum for doing basically nothing.

i can think of a lot of bands i like, but i wouldn't want to sit through a movie about them. or, to be more charitable about it, if i watched one, i wouldn't need a second one.

i don't see it as a big deal at all. i don't see most things i find unnecessary to be that big of a deal. lol

Hell, I hope it's something Wilco fans enjoy. Give 'em a reality series or a Law & Order spinoff for all I care. shrug

I for one can't wait to hear some new Wilco. I'm excited we get a new album this year.
