Craig Holliman: Unsung Minneapolis Genius, Rest in Peace It's possible that many people here haven't heard the album by a Minneapolis group called 'Cinema'. It came out in 1988.
It's an absolute classic of minimalist heavyweight funk. Ungh! Lawd! Melancholic, intelligent, moody and very beautiful. Everyone who likes weird funk music should have it. Actually, it's a classic album in its own right, and I cannot for the life of me say why it didn't make Craig Holliman, who made it, a massive star. It just vanished. Anyway... it's too late now, because Craig just passed away. He was a very gracious, open and genuine human. I'm not sure when he passed, but I just found out, and I'm sad. The album's out of print, and hard to find but you can hear it here http://theheaviestfunkint...ong-house/ And I want everyone to hear it. Gone too soon.
