On the star-ecentral website,Jay talks about the new album...

The band's last three albums,Synchronized,A Funk Odyssey and Dynamite may have alienated some fans but they have certainly garnered some new ones,too.Kay admits,though,that an artist has to be true to himself first and foremost.

"It's difficult because you do what you want to do but you also have a huge fanbase who likes the first album,in which there is more of an organic,live feel.And there are also people who like the fourth and fifth albums,which are more electronic and programmed".

Now relinguished from its Sony Music contract,the band's upcoming seventh studio album is expected to be released later this year under Columbia Records.

"This is going to be a fresh start for the band,with a slightly different sound",Jay says."Now we are going back to the older style,with alot of brass in it....not necessarily retro.It's difficult to change your style.Besides,I think that style comes from the voice.But this is certainly something we are looking forward to."

Jay was also recently quoted in the Metro (UK press) as saying...

"I've finished a new album and I'm very happy with it-I'd say it's my best yet"

He's been bitchin' about Sony for years. He's finally free of Sony and he signs with Columbia (a Sony Music label). I'm confused.

I haven't listened to these guys in a minute.

I thought they were free from Sony?

Why are they signing back up with 'em?

Their first album was on Columbia. And then Sony shuffled them over to The Work Group and then over to Epic and now they're back on Columbia. Fuck all! I just want Toby and Stuart back. They were a magical combination.

Here I am.

I loved the "Funk Odyssey" and "Dynamite" albums. These two albums were exactly the type of stuff I wanted....uptempo and danceable with no traces of shit hop whatsoever. I remember the group from the mid 1990s and their "old style". It was simply "OK" but nothing "ass shakable" and not the type of stuff I would buy. With this new one, I think I'll wait till I hear some of the reviews from the orgers, especially SoulAlive because he knows exactly the type of stuff I like and dislike.

Hell, first Prince loses his damn mind (and his class) on his new album, now Jamiroquai is going back to their old style. I guess I'll just stick to buying old albums from now on after these traumatic experiences.

I remember in 2005,before 'Dynamite' was released,there was alot of speculation that it would be a return to their old sound.That certainly wasn't the case,although a few songs ("Seven Days In Sunny June","Talulah") are similiar to the material on the first two albums.I can't imagine JayKay giving up the electro/disco sounds entirely.More than likely,the new album will be a mixture of the old and the newer styles.

Am I the only who loves all their albums?

I fucking love all their stuff, their older stuff and their more recent stuff.

its just funky as hell.

whatever Jay Kay does, it always sounds good, great vocals and great videos!
