Ok I'll be critical here. One of the worst - well maybe not worst, but I don't particularly care for the sound, is Narada Michael Walden, who produced Whitney's first two albums and Aretha's Who's Zoomin' Who? That squishy drum sound and those busy synthesiser that wash over everything.I know that's what many people were going for in the 80s, but this represents the worst of it, imo.A real mess.
Another one I don't like is David Foster's 80s productions: Chicago, St. Elmo's Fire. Again, that echoey reverb over everything, and that squishy drum. Yuk.Drums should go "boom! pat! chuck" not "squish!"
