(sighs) by the way, is new amerykah pt 1 anyone on here's FAVORITE erykah LP? Sorry. Have not liked anything she has put out since Momma's Gun and before that Baduism. To me, and this is JUST me, everything that she has not been the greatest. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

I know, right? I had heard PARTS of BOTH Baduizm and Mama's Gun, but I wasn't even a fan until WWU. I bought it at Best Buy the day it came out for like 8 bucks on a whim...and so I don't get how people don't like the freakier, funkier Badu that emerged on MG but really came to be what it (she) now is on WWU. well she has been pregnant for awhile and just recently given birth, so give her a few ticks for her stitches to heal and to pump some reserved breast milk.

Didn't know they did another Badu one. You're welcome ! Have you checked the 4 samples in the link of the Rush Hour-shop ? Man, that "Badu" snippet is already a tight fave of mine. It starts right away with them playing a sample of a classic jazzfunksoul-track which i can't recall right now (aaaargh !...the frustration, lol) [Edited 3/28/09 13:32pm]

jackie - just curious - how do YOU rank her LPs?? I have a real soft spot for WWU. I don't know why. I think has something to do with the first time I saw her perform Danger. It just blew my mind and I hadn't heard the album yet. After that I'll say: Mama's Gun New Amerykah Baduizm Live album Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I like her, but I've never been a huge, huge fan. All of her albums have rough spots for me, but they all have some enjoyable moments. My favorite single of hers is still "Bag Lady (Cheeba Sac Remix)" followed by "On and On." 1. New Amerykah Part 1 2. Baduizm 3. Mama's Gun 4. Worldwide Underground -- never really warmed to that one; think I'll give it another spin this week to see if anything's changed "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

So funny because I thought the very same thing every time I saw one of these mixtape looking things pop up in a legit music retail outlet.

Instead of getting progressively better with each effort, she is getting worse with each effort. Seems her goals have more 2 do with "hooking" up than making quality music. I'm dissapointed.

I agree with the progressively worse part, as for her reasons, I don't know why? "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

Funny when folks say this kinda stuff about Prince in the PMM forum you get your wig in a twist. Erykah will probably never make another Mama's Gun (which I think is her undisputed classic). But each album has been always shown that she's never afraid to "go left"... and that's an element that is sorely missing in R&B. I don't really get the "hooking up" comment about Erykah or why it was even necessary. New Amerykah Pt. 1 was definitely one of the best releases of 2008.

to me, the freakier, more challenging, OUT THERE, WORK in PROGRESS ish her music gets, the more I LOVE HER AS AN ARTIST. THE MORE RECENT WORK JUST TAKES SEVERAL SPINS TO GET INTO. I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

This is how I feel. If I don't dig it, I don't dig it. It's no biggie to me. I don't have any expectations from her so what I get doesn't really disappoint. It's just different. As long as she keeps doing the music that she wants to do I'll be checking her out. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I wish New Amerkyah had gone undiscovered, personally. Mama's Gun is my fave from her, followed by WWU and Baduizm. "Live" and NA would round out the bottom two.

I hope "Didn't Cha Know" is longer on this one because the album version is soo short to me and I love it. My favorite version of "Next Lifetime" is on the "Live" album... Prince Rogers Nelson
