Yep, you heard me right, Heavy D is now doing reggae music.

He was actually born in Jamaica for those of you who don't know...or remember for that matter, so this style of music actually comes to him quite naturally.

Yeah i was shocked as hell when i saw this video a couple
of weeks ago. Not shocked at him doing reggae though. He's
been known to throw some reggae on some of his older albums.
Hadn't really heard from this dude since 99.

I was never a fan of his work, although I do have a copy of the "Now that we found love" 12inch in my collection. Had it since I was about 9 years old...that was back when it first came out mind you.

There's an interview with him & Randy Jackson on Youtube where he says that he was actually trying to record another rap album, but he couldn't do it, which is why he's gone in a new direction and formed a new label to release it on.

I won't front. I used to dig heavy. I didn't care for the chunky but
funky bit when he first hit but dude put it down back in the day.
Some of my favorites was now that we found love, is it good to ya,
the don't curse collaboration with variouse east coast rappers from
peaceful journey, i liked the blue funk cd, and nuttin but love was classic.
Who didn't like black coffee? I know when the so called gangsta rap started
to dominate in the early nineties heavy D may have been considered soft to
some youngheads back then but even treach acknowledged heavy D had got more
respect than some of the so called gangsta rappers then.

Was that the album he was nominated for a reggae Grammy for?
