Start with her debut, Dan...
This one came out in 1971,,,,,and to me, it has never sounded dated. I love her voice,,,,and she's a very underrated pianist. [Edited 3/26/09 15:35pm]

Muito bom !
Have played the moody "Don't Go" many times in the past, and mixed on tapes a few times. A former funky night club in my town frequently spinned the recorded live-version of "Funky Tabourim" as their standard partyjam. That particular version appeared on her live-album "Wild" and hooked me up to her work. Around those same years my dad saw a show of her at a jazzfestival and after the concert he instantly bought her lp's "Piquant" and "Taurus" at a festivalshop. Lately i've been searching most of her early work from the late 60's to late 70's, including projects like Via Brasil : And someone hipped me once to singer Marcia Maria, and was told that she's family-related to Tania, although i still haven't figured out if she really is family, lol. Anyways, here's a soundclip from one of her first singles around 1978. [Edited 3/26/09 15:53pm]

I recently got surprising info about an album which she seems to have recorded before the 1971 release : Apresentamos Tania Maria (1966) Site-notes : Some of Loronix friends says that this is a late release, but I think, after more than 400 releases the timing is good to present Tania Maria - Apresentamos Tania Maria (1966), for Continental. I'm not sure if it is Tania's debut LP, but it is a very early release of this Brazilian singer, active through three decades since she started with the age of 13 encouraged by her father, also musician. Tania Maria is also a pianist, building an active career outside Brazil, being recognized as a Jazz singer on several countries and by renowned musicians such like Charlie Byrd. Apresentamos Tania Maria has Tania Maria (piano), Neco (guitar), Luis Marinho (bass), Edison Machado (drums) and Maurico Einhorn (harmonica on tracks 5, 10 and 11). Once again Edison Machado show us that he is the real *samba* drummer. Tracks include: 01 - Não Tem Tradução (Ismael Silva / Nilton Bastos / Francisco Alves) -- Com Quem Roupa (Noel Rosa) -- Três Apitos (Noel Rosa) -- Feitiço da Vila (Noel Rosa / Vadico) -- Feitio de Oração (Noel Rosa) 02 - Viver Morrer (Jota Júnior) 03 - A Voz do Povo (João do Vale / Luis Vieira) -- Nego São (Lisboa / Tranquilo) 04 - Papão (Cláudio E. Mendes / Joaquim Costa Reis) 05 - Ficou na Saudade (Maurício Einhorn / Arnaldo Costa / Sergio A. S. Leite) 06 - Divisão (Gil / João Luis / Tânia Maria) 07 - De Manhã (Caetano Veloso) 08 - Terra de Ninguém (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle) 09 - A Paz (João Leal Brito "britinho" / Fernando César) 10 - Agora (João Luis / Hélio Delmiro) 11 - Paz de Espírito (Maurício Einhorn / Arnaldo Costa) 12 - O Verão Vem Aí (Paulo Valdez / Otávio) http://loronix.blogspot.c...maria.html

...Come With Me & Made In New York tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 Great projects ! ... In between those 2 albums was released another cool album called "Love Explosion". I'm also curious to hear her earliest-known recording, "Para Dancar, Vol. 2", released around 1962/1963 on CBS-Brasil with the group Conjunto.
