Naw, man, not quite. We focused on the 1960s and 1970s sound, not the 1940s. biggrin

So, who of y'all Funksters is into Latin Funk / Soul / Jazz and Boogaloo, like Eddie Plamieri, Eddie Bobo, Joe Bataan, Willie Colon, Fania Allstars, Ray Barretto, etc?

Good timing with this thread, thanks for the recommendations!

A couple of months ago, I started searching for some of this type of Latin music and bought a Latin/Soul compilation that's pretty good and has a few Mongo tracks on it. After listening to some of these that you posted, I bought the Mongo greatest hits and some Ray Barretto songs to get me started.

Joe Bataan has a brand new album out, produced by Gabe Roth of the Dap-Kings. I highly recommend it!
