I own Time Is Slipping Away where should I go from there? Try Life on Mars (1976)!! IMO, that, and Time Is Slipping Away are the best... If you like those, then try Voyager and What the World Is Coming To...I also dig his productions for MFSB, partucularly the Mysteries of the World album.... He also wrote The Jones Girls' "Nights Over Egypt", and Patti Labelle's "If Only You Knew" ... Had it not been for The Joneses' Nights Over Egypt, I probably wouldn't give the man the time of day. | |

I was always looking for an instrumental version of that song! His instrumental MFSB tune, "Old San Juan", became the Jones Girls' song "At Peace With Woman", so I was hoping there was alternate for "Egypt" as well...but nope.... BTW, one of my favorites on Time Is Slipping Away is this classic... "The Sweeetest Pain" Old San Juan/ At Peace With Woman Looks like someone on youtube edited the Jones Girls and Dexter's MFSB version together: ... The orchestral mid-section in Peace With Woman screams Dexter's name. I didn't know it was based on another composition though, thanx for the trivia Pali I still couldn't get into his solo stuff though, as hard as I tried(all of his albums are in my Ipod, but I've yet to have a one-to-one- sit through them). I think he got the raw deal in the sense that he gave BEST of his work to other Philly Records act(he esp showed off his chops in MFSB's albums and the few tunes here in there in the Jonses and Patti's In Love album).
