Worst album ever (of 2002, that is).

It seems like "Best album of the year" threads always get a good reaction but I don't doubt that I'm the only one that got a few turkeys this year. I wonder what people think is the worst album of the year. To be fair only pick albums you have or have heard nearly all of.

I bought some albums that I just never got into, including Frank Black, Springsteen (I really bought into the hype on that one) and Elvis Costello, who never disappointed me in the past.

I think my pick however has to be Amber "Need To Be Naked". I was just totally splurging here! I don't know why either. I liked "The Need To Be Naked" and "Yes" was OK but I just never got into the album. It was like her last album, to melodramatic and not very dancable for a dance album. It might not be bad but then again I might have to get it time along with the others mentioned. What does everyone else think.

The Frank Black albums were extremely poor. I think it's about time he reformed The Pixies, i know they could still pull it off. I was also slightly disappointed with the new Foo Fighters album. It's just too darn safe.

Eminem's "The Eminem Show"

I'm just way to sick of this bastard making a mockery of decent music. He's just shock value- that's it!!!

Me too, although I'm still giving it a chance to grow on me, I do really like the first song.

I'm gonna say it right here. I can't stand the new Tori Amos CD. Yes that's right, I think it's so safe, boring, middle of the road, bland, too long... I am a big Tori fan and I just saw her in concert but I just can't get into the new one, and I've given it many listens. IMHO!

I loved "Teenager of The Year" and that's why I bought "Black Letter Days" (btw, was "Devil's Workshop" better or worse?). I once had a dream that The Pixies did reunite. It's not like the last Breeders' album shock the wolrd. The Pixies would kick the world's ass if they made another album!

She only has one album but about a dozen other records (or singles) via other artists. I'm glad that people are getting sick of her now. I thought it was funny that she was everywhere on the radio in the first half of the year but then Nelly took over. I don't like either. It just says something about records companies taste (for money not music).

You're absolutely right. Previously, her b-sides would sound
a lot better than the songs she put on this album. I don't
like this bland kind of style she's adopted now since her
"Strange Little Girls" album.

Which was another major let-down.

Up until "Choirgirl Hotel" her albums were spectacular and
Choirgirl was the epitome of that. It was such a brilliant
album that I already thought it could only go downhill from
there.

"To Venus and Back" was still cool. It had more instruments
and weird sounds on it, but it was still a cool style which
melted quite well with her piano.

But now, 75% of this album sounds like lame keyboards and
all the songs sound the same. They all sounds like they
were recorded during the taping of "New Wave" from SLG.

There isn't a single track on there that really jumps at
you or catches your attention. They all sound the same.

"Upside Down" or "Never Seen Blue" sound more interesting
and captivating than this entire album.

I think Scarlet's Walk is ok, tho' the only songs that really stand out for me are A Kinda Fairytale, Amber Waves, Your Cloud and Wednesday.
Hopefully her next album will be more inventive or she'll be in danger of getting trapped in that MOR cul-de-sac inhabited by Phil Collins and co. Let's hope not!

Beck's "Sea Change" was pure garbage! I could go on and on about it, but I won't...

I also can't stand any of the Pearl Jam bands out there: Nickelback, Creed, Puddle of Mudd, Coldplay, etc etc... They all sound the same and have nothing creative, entertaining, or interesting in their songs. How do bands like that get out of their parents' garages?

It's his worst album to date, granted, but Eminem goes a lot deeper than "shock value". He's the trailer park poet laureate. Right now, the guy is vital.

Even if he is vital but these are desperate times! And all of those of you who "only bought a few good albums", stop bragging. It makes me sad!

whitney's new one has to be the suckiest most uninspired record this year. (luckily i only paid $10 for it at target.) it's incredible that the best song would be that "whatculookinat". i thought for sure it'd be the worst. the cover of "you light up my life" has to be the lamest cover done since mariah's horrible attempt at "the beautiful ones". yes whitney, crack is wack, and so is your record! -this is from an absolute whitney-lover. and yes i'm ranting but like most prince fans do i'll complain while i'm listening to it and learning all the damn words.
