Brenda Russell - In The Thick Of It

This is from Ms. Russell self-titled album of'78. Her debut album was released twice, the record company had the common sense to release it again in '79.. after slow record sales the previous year. Lucky for us and her Grammy Nominated hit "Piano In The Dark" is from this album. The Sista like Ms. Angela Bofill and Ms. Phyllis Hyman has never gotten the due.

On this album also, the song Mr. Luther Vandross had a mega hit with "If Only For One Night". She wrote the Ms.Oleta Adams hit song "Get Here".

One of my favorite albums of all-time! But "Piano in the Dark" was not on the original album, That was written in the late 80's, and it's from her album, "Get Here" (A&M, 1988)--this first album is from back in '79. It was put on the most recent CD reissue, just because it's her biggest hit, other than "Get Here".

Love Life is my second favorite album from Brenda!!! They really should have reissued it here on CD (It came out briefly as a Japanese Import CD, then quickly got deleted).
