Question about Wham

I always knew that the driving force behind the success of Wham! was George Michael, but George wrote and produced most of their hits himself, what exactly was Andrew Ridgley's role in the group? I honestly thought Ridgley was the producer and George was the writer.

George did the music: writing, composing, and producing and Andrew was the image specialist (how they would present themselves) and the group's spokeperson. Andrew was also the one who gave George the confidence to pursue a career in music. He also was the person who convinced George to change their style and sound from the dance/soulboy sound on Fantastic to the shamelessly pop feel on Make It Big to the more mature dance sound on The Final

Andrew also co-wrote Wham! Rap, Club Tropicana, and Careless Whisper, and providing guitar parts and backing vocals on some of the songs

Ummm.....I don't think his guitar was ever unplugged, cos he released a solo album in 1990 that was very guitar based. I only ever heard 2 songs from it....actually I've even got one of the singles. boxed

Maybe it was unplugged in the videos....it's not uncommon after all, cuz artists would lip syc all the time in their video clips.

During their Top of The Pop performances, it was definitely unplugged but during their live tours, he played. He also played guitar on various songs on the albums

From what I know, was Andrew was the push behind WHAM! He also was supposedly the "pretty boy" of the group and would always have the groupies around. I don't know how much musically he was involved. He can play guitar and sing. I am guessing that since he didn't do anything that did well musically after WHAM!, that George was the main musical driver in the band.
