is it because of stroke ?

Yeah. Due to complications from the stroke he can't hold the guitar for a long period of time. So now he mainly sings and sometimes plays addit. keys.

It's ironic because I was just listening to the "Funk On Fire" anthology yesterday. He played some great jazzy type licks too. He was the 1st dude I ever saw (even before Jimmy Page) play a double neck.

I thought there was a reason Sugar Foot don't play guitar anymore, he had a stroke a while back. I saw him and the Ohio Players on DVD one time and the only way I could know it was him was when he sang. sad

Yeah that was my experience too. I saw S.F. with the band and at first I thought they had gotten a new member, didn't recognize him. Electric guitars are heavier than hell, I'm surprise anyone over the age of 40 can still carry the weight even if they're reasonable healthy.

"I'm surprised anyone over the age of 40 can still carry the weight"...

LOL! Don't let Buddy Guy, George Benson, Keith Richards or even Springsteen hear you say that.

Jimmy Page is 62 and he still plays a Les Paul. When you play live and love it, age goes out the window.

I feel bad for Sugarfoot but that's cool he's still out there jammin'.

Oh, I wouldn't say that in-front of their face, I don't think. lol My point wasn't rather loving what you do (playing guitar) but the physical limitations that come with playing any type instrument over a period of time, the alchemy of time catches up with everyone. I marvel at anyone that slings a electric over their shoulders, young or old.

Ernie Isley (57) is probably one of the strongest eldest statesmen of the guitar carrying. lol

Didn't The Ohio Players bring on a 2nd guitarist named Chet on their 1977 "Angel" album ? I saw this line-up when they came to Columbia, SC in 2003 for The Three Rivers Music Festival, on a double bill with Lakeside.
