LOS ANGELES – Don Cornelius has been sentenced to three years' probation after pleading no contest to misdemeanor spousal battery. Court records show Cornelius' attorney entered the plea on the "Soul Train" creator's behalf on Wednesday. Cornelius was charged in November with spousal battery, assault with a deadly weapon and dissuading a witness from making a police report, all misdemeanors. The 72-year-old was arrested a month earlier after police were called to his Hollywood Hills home following a report of domestic dispute. He used a deadly weapon... he should have been charged with a FELONY, but as I mention in the Brown/Feny sticky this is why this mess continues. Since this case didn't garner media onslaught the LAPD nor the D.A. felt no need nor the pressure to do anything. Amazing. | |
