U didn't remember him from the song "Instant Replay"? The video for this song is really good. MTV used to play the hell out of it. What was the name of the movie it was featured in? [Edited 3/18/09 14:24pm] **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

This was one of my favorite songs from 1984. Dan had such a soulful voice. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

The album it came off had some great, if now very dated, fast paced pop cuts. "I can dream about you" is of course, really from "streets of fire", but it got put on the album of the same name regardless. Obvious marketing ploy LOL. Because of this, it sounds out of place on the album, as that cut still sounds quite fresh.
"We are the young" was one of the cuts off the album: "Rage to live" and "I'm not a rolling stone" are my favs. Great songs, particually for those who love that hi nrg mid 80's pop fluff LOL

The group which you see in the movieclip posted above are called "The Sorels" and includes actors Stoney Jackson (leadsinger) / Robert Townsend / Lee Ving / Grand L. Bush / and there's even a 5th member credited by actor Mykelti Williamson : www.imdb.com/title/tt0088194 Back then when i saw the clip first, i actually thought that the leadsinger in the clip was UK-artist David Grant. But once he puts off his sunglasses i could see it was someone else, lol.

some interesting trivia about this song...
In early 1984,Dan Hartman offered this song to Daryl Hall and John Oates. He presented it to them but they declined it.Their new album was already finished and they had no room for it.Plus,in those days, they pretty much wrote and produced their own material. In 2004,Hall and Oates finally recorded this song, changing the lyrics slightly, and it appeared on their 'Our Kind Of Soul' CD.Here's a live performance by Hall and Oates... I loooove "I Can Dream About You". What a great song! I never knew that Dan Hartman also sang "Instant Replay". I remember that song when it was being played on the radio. It was quite popular (another great song)! I didn't even know that Dan Hartman sang "Instant Replay" until daPrettyman pointed it out. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Hell, I thought Michael Pare was actually singing in Eddie And The Cruisers!

U didn't remember him from the song "Instant Replay"? I had heard "Instant Replay" years earlier but didn't know who sang it at the time. In 1984, I thought Dan Hartman was a black guy also. . . . [Edited 3/19/09 13:19pm] Andy is a four letter word.
