Depending on the day she's my favorite female vocalist, and this is one of her best. A somber, reflective ballad. People used to love to blather on about Mariah's vocal range, but she's never used it well. Niecy uses it well and does so to the benefit of the song. Silly is a good example of that. Love it.

I don't know-her voice gets on my nerves sometimes-it sounds like the woman who voiced the singing voice of Snow White in the Disney film "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Singers like Denise and Chante Moore use their vocal range more like the instrument that they are. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

Yeah, I have her Best of CD and it's simply titled "Silly." At one of my past jobs we would have the radio on WDAS (local R&B station in Philly) and they always played "Silly" and "Free."

My mom had the album that had "Silly" on it and I always liked this song but when I found it on iTunes, I truly fell in love with this song. It's so beautiful from start to finish. It kinda gets me a little emotional too, no tears involved but it hits me inside, if that makes sense. It's now my favorite Denice Williams song by a mile and I dig a lot of her stuff. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

That's alright though cause you throwdown like you was old. Yeah, the stations played "Silly" a lot, and rightfully so, because it's a great slow jam. Andy is a four letter word.

Well didn't it hit #1 on the R&B chart? I'm not surprised "Silly" was played all that much, it's a great song. [Edited 3/20/09 14:58pm]

your mom is right. i was a young kid when this was out my dear, and this was the de facto song for every young schoolgirl who had a crush on some boy...you would have thought it was an anthem or something

Deniece Williams does have a beautiful voice, I've always described it as very 'feminine + petite' if that makes sense. I love this song, but my favorite Niece song is probably 'Free', but this one is a close second. I also like the songs she did with Johnny Mathis.
I also heard a rumor that she's Jazzy Pha's mother... is that true? Does anyone know??? Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!
