Beyonce in Vogue Magazine Beyonce's Family Business posted by lawrence - Mon Mar 16 2009, 12:38 AM PDT Long before she was a superstar and style icon, Beyonce Knowles' parents Matthew and Tina taught her how to perform and dress. Although she may sing about being an "Independent Woman," the 27-year-old still relies on her family for career and fashion advice. Beyonce isn't just the Knowles' daughter, she's the family business. In the latest issue of Vogue, on newstands March 24, the normally private performer opens up to Jonathan Van Meter about the people closest to her: On her father, Matthew Knowles: "My father is still my manager. He does all of the business deals and negotiations. The best thing is having someone I trust. I know he is up until 4:00 a.m. fighting and working and doing things that no one else would do." On bumping heads with her father: "It's definitely tense. And if there's one person in my life I argue with the most, it's him. But it's business. It's always about business." On her father's reputation in the music business for driving a hard bargain: "He is a tough bargainer. But he really knows what he's doing, and he's a workaholic." On her mother, Tina Knowles: "My mother is truly my best friend "We work together on our clothing line [The House of Dereon]. She handles my movies: She reads all the scripts and tells me the good ones, and then I read them." On their involvement in her career: "My father has other artists. My mother does her own clothing line on HSN. Their whole lives are not ... me. But if they wanted to retire, I'm sure we would figure out who would help me." On imagining having her big career without them: "I can't," she says, shaking her head. "We all did this together." It's 'Scary' Being a Role Model for Beyonce
(March 13) -- Beyonce Knowles knew that being a superstar likely meant you have some responsibility as a role model, but never did she think it would extend all the way to the White House. With her music career as successful as ever and her acting gigs steadily increasing, Beyonce is a force to be reckoned with. In a cover story for April's Vogue magazine, Knowles opens up about everything from her influence on kids to gaining and losing weight for film roles. Choice Quotes Below: On Being a Role Model to Kids, Even the Obama Girls: "The amount of influence I have on these young girls is scary sometimes. But I also understand how lucky I am to have that." On Gaining 20 Pounds for Her 'Cadillac Records' Role: "It's easy for me to gain weight. I'm not a naturally stick-thin girl. I'm not heavy, but I'm not skinny, either." On Expressing Anger On-Screen: "I have made a choice -- because it does take effort -- to be happy. I mean, I am happy. But, it's hard. Sometimes you don't want to be that way. And holding all that stuff in, holding the anger in and always being so composed .. It was great for me to be able to release everything." http://www.popeater.com/m...nce/381892 How do they know that Beyonce is a role model to Sasha and Melia? Ok, thanks to SCDLS I read the full Vogue interview, and this is what Michelle told Beyonce:
A few days later, Beyoncé tells me, she called Michelle Obama to thank her for the opportunity. "She told me she was very happy that her girls have someone like me to look up to," says Beyoncé. "And I'm like, 'Oh, my God.' You have to feel fortunate to be one of the people whom parents don't mind their children looking up to. The older I get, the more I think about the amount of influence I have on these young girls, and it's scary sometimes. But I also understand how lucky I am to have that."

As a one-off tribute to Beyonce, they should have changed the magazine's name to Vague.

And hooooow do YOU look? Anyway, the cover is boring esp when you consider the rest of Vogue's cover features,,,,but as usual, she looks pretty. Not fond of the finger wave nor the forced 1930s make-up though.

A part of me is saying "Damb, Bey looks good!" "Classic beauty in effect"
Another part of me is saying "What the f*ck is she doing allowing them to make her up like a white woman?" "Does she have ANY pride of her identity left or is she completely lost?" Both parts are correct.

You know I was thinking the other day about what Beyonce said about her mother being her best friend. Although I think its great that she has such a close relationship with her mom (and her whole family really), I wondered does she have any friends with other females other than the ones in her family? I know she once was close with the girls in her group Beyonce's Chi I mean Destiny's Child But I dont think I've really ever seen her hanging out with some female friends. I mean, I know she called Gwenyth Paltrow her favorite person in the world, but I see that relationship as more of a Jay-Z and Bey are friends with Gwennie and Chris Martin--its more like a married couples friendship. The only people I've ever seen Bey hang around with are either her family or Jay-Z.
Anywhoo, this article proves to me what I have long believed--Beyonce wouldnt be where she is today if it werent for her parents. They pretty much control her career, especially her dad.
